Dr. Bishr Al-Dabagh is a board-certified dermatologist (American Board of Dermatology), fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon (American College of Mohs Surgery), and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). His practice specialty is in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers, Mohs micrographic surgery, and post-operative reconstruction.
Dr. Al-Dabagh currently serves the communities of Mooresville, North Carolina and St. Augustine, Florida, providing both surgical and medical dermatologic care.
He is also a surgical consultant in his home state of Michigan. In the past he has been a surgical consultant in Arizona, California, Hawaii, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Illinois. He has performed over 15,000 Mohs surgery cases in addition to thousands of other skin cancer procedures. Patients are at ease with Dr. Al-Dabagh’s attention to detail and surgical precision coupled with his kind bedside manner. Every member of the team is held to a high standard of excellence to provide top notch care and make our patients feel safe and well cared for.
In addition to his surgical and medical work, Dr. Al-Dabagh recently received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan-Flint’s School of Management. With the changing healthcare industry, he realizes that there is more to running a practice than just being a great physician. He wanted to make sure he was well-educated on the business and management side of healthcare so that he can maintain an independent, successful, and patient-oriented practice. .
Education
Dr. Al-Dabagh graduated from the University of Michigan's Honors Scholar Program with three degrees: Honors Biology, Honors Mass Media Communication, and Molecular Biology & Biotechnology with a minor in chemistry. He was the student commencement speaker of his class. During his time at UM-Flint, he received over 30 scholarships and awards including the prestigious Maize and Blue Award, the highest honor for graduating seniors.
Dr. Al-Dabagh received his medical training at Case Western Reserve University, where he graduated at the top of his class with Alpha Omega Alpha distinction. During medical school he was engaged in numerous research projects in the fields of genetics, ophthalmology, and dermatology.
After medical school he was an intern at Akron General Medical Center, where he served as chief of his class. He completed his dermatology residency at the prestigious Duke University Medical Center where he continued to engage in research and excel academically. This was followed by additional subspecialty training in procedural dermatology and Mohs surgery at the University of California San Francisco's Dermatologic Surgery and Laser Center.
During his time at the University of California he received advanced training in Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetic dermatology. Mohs micrographic surgery is a highly specialized technique for the accurate removal of skin cancer which has a high cure rate while at the same time sparing healthy tissue.
Dr. Al-Dabagh has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and has given over 50 presentations at local, state, and national scientific meetings. He is faculty at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and also teaches dermatology residents physicians at Orange Park Medical Center in Jacksonville Florida. He recently obtained an MBA and MS in Leadership and Organizational Dynamics to further his education and business management expertise.
Personal
Dr. Al-Dabagh has a passion for fitness and whole body health which is why he is also a certified personal trainer. Dr. Al-Dabagh believes in a holistic approach to skin health and staying youthful through excellent diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications. He is dedicated to helping patients achieve their most radiant skin from the inside out. He enjoys travel, tennis, hiking and frequents the gym almost daily. He volunteers on international medical mission trips at least once yearly and is very passionate about providing healthcare to refugees and underserved populations.
